Jeffries says he won’t back FISA until Pulte is removed by Trump as acting DNI

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said Monday he will not vote to renew the nation’s warrantless spy powers so long as Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte remains in the role.

“Reversing the Bill Pulte appointment is a starting point, not an ending point,” Jeffries said of the battle to renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

Jeffires said “no,” there was no scenario he would reauthorize Section 702 with Pulte in office.

The minority leader told reporters FISA negotiations even before Trump named Pulte as his pick for the intelligence post were “already in a very sensitive place” given divisions over whether the must-pass legislation should include a warrant requirement to access the........
