Actor Shia LaBeouf enters plea in New Orleans Mardi Gras incident
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Actor Shia LaBeouf has entered his plea in connection with a Mardi Gras altercation earlier this year.
During an arraignment hearing Wednesday morning, LaBeouf pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery. He received a suspended six-month sentence and two years of probation.
In mid-February, during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, police were called to a disturbance on Royal Street where LaBeouf was allegedly becoming “increasingly aggressive,” punching two people.
LaBeouf was arrested but released that same day and was seen partying on Bourbon Street and taking pictures with his fans, his release papers in hand.
In video footage captured by Nexstar’s WGNO, seen below, LaBeouf appeared to try to show the papers to the camera before hanging them from his mouth and dancing amid throngs of Mardi Gras revelers.
