Trump says Iran did not inform US it was ceasing negotiations, says talks will go on

President Trump said Monday that talks with Iran are continuing after earlier reports out of Tehran said talks were being cut off over Israeli military advancements in Lebanon.

Trump on Truth Social said the talks are continuing “at a rapid pace” as the two countries have yet to reach a deal to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier he said he was not aware that Iran decided to suspend talks with the United States but seemed unfazed by the decision.

“If they don’t want to talk, that’s OK with me,” Trump told NBC News. “I think it’s fine. I don’t particularly want to talk either. We talk too much.”

“It’s an appropriate thing to say, because they’re better negotiators than they are fighters,” he said. “But they haven’t informed us of that.”
