De Niro: Trump ‘will never leave’

Robert De Niro predicts that President Trump “will never leave” office, and it’s up to Americans to “get rid of him.”

“He will never leave. We have to make him leave,” the “Goodfellas” actor said of Trump in an interview with Nicolle Wallace on the MS NOW host’s “The Best People” podcast released Monday.

“He jokes now about nationalizing the elections. He’s not joking. We’ve seen enough already,” De Niro said.

“So you don’t think he leaves in three years?” Wallace asked the 82-year-old performer.

“He ain’t leaving. No way,” De Niro responded.

“Let’s not kid ourselves. He will not leave. It’s up to us to get rid of him,” De Niro, one of Trump’s fiercest Hollywood critics, said.

Although the Constitution stipulates that no individual can be elected to more than two terms as president, Trump has repeatedly floated the prospect of another White House bid. Last year, Trump acknowledged that it was “pretty clear” that he would be “not allowed to run.”

In his conversation with Wallace, De Niro suggested potentially organizing at polling places to monitor the midterm elections and urged Americans to join peaceful demonstrations across the country.

“People have to mobilize now and be ready for the midterms so there’s no question that it’s a fair election,” De Niro said.

“Like Vietnam, you got to get out there and protest,” he urged.

“No Kings — 7, 8, 9 million — it’s got to be way, way more than that,” De Niro said.

“Everybody has to get out there in every way possible,” he told Wallace.

“Everything that this country has worked for, represents — he’s ruining it. And it’s right before your eyes.”

De Niro and Trump have frequently sparred. The actor has referred to Trump as “sadistic” and a “clown,” while the president has repeatedly blasted De Niro, calling him a “wacko” who “suffers from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

De Niro told Wallace on her podcast, “This is our country. I want my country back.”

“I don’t want everybody going around — MAGA with their American flags — like they’re the only ones,” the Academy Award winner said of Trump supporters.

“We are the Americans, too,” he continued.

“I know there are more of us — because we believe in what’s right and wrong, empathy, kindness, bringing the country together — not dispersing it.”

“We have to save the country,” De Niro said.

“The country sticks together. The family sticks together. When a crazy thing happens, a crazy person, an enemy — because Trump is the enemy of this country, let’s not kid ourselves, it’s that simple — everybody has to stick together to get them out and get back on track,” he told Wallace.

“We can all argue and fight about our little differences and all that,” De Niro said. “This is the big problem.”
