US kills 3 in fourth strike on alleged drug boat in a week

The U.S. military over the weekend carried out another strike on a boat it claimed was carrying drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing three men aboard in the fourth such attack within a week.

U.S. Southern Command announced the Saturday strike on social platform X, using its now routine explanation that the vessel was “transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations.” 

The command also said the boat was “operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations,” but it did not say which groups and gave no evidence to back up its claims.

A 15-second video posted alongside the announcement shows a boat traveling along the water before it’s struck and engulfed in an explosion.
