When is enough enough for the Iran war hawks?
When is enough enough for the Iran war hawks?
Sadly, there are still far too many Americans in our nation who are confused about the meaning behind Memorial Day. Simply put, it is not about car sales. It is a federal holiday created to honor and mourn those in the military who died in service to our nation.
Unfortunately, I dare say most Americans are not aware of how many of their fellow citizens died in combat to protect our homeland.
From World War II through today, that number is approximately 500,000. Some would strongly argue that not one member of the American Armed Forces should have been put in harm’s way in any war or conflict following World War II — that those tragic deaths were the direct result of misguided policies coupled with the old and the privileged being too eager to send the young and the poor into a hail of bullets and destruction of their own creation.
Many of the those pushing for war over the last few decades were politicians, news editors and pundits thousands of miles from the battlefield. These “hawks” continued their lives of luxury and safety within their bubbles of entitlement while young American troops became the disposable pawns to be moved about the surface of a macabre board........
