Senate Democrats investigating DOJ subpoenas of New York Times reporters

A group of Senate Democrats is seeking answers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) over its move to issue subpoenas to a handful of New York Times reporters over the outlet’s reporting on a new Air Force One jet gifted to President Trump by Qatar.

Led by Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote a letter to the department this week seeking more information about the involvement of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Jay Clayton, who is currently the nominee to serve as director of national intelligence.
