Judge clears Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby, who gambled on his own team, to play this fall

A judge in Texas has ruled in favor of Texas Tech University quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who had been suspended by the NCAA after admitting to gambling on college football games, including his own while at a previous school.

The judge’s Monday ruling clears the way for Sorsby’s return to the field this fall and is being widely seen as critical inflection point in college sports as legalized gambling goes more mainstream and the NCAA faces increasing questions about eligibility and the ability of the organization to enforce its rules protecting game integrity.
