15 recent food, product recalls that may impact you
(NEXSTAR) – It has been a summer of foodborne illnesses and product recalls, which may have you checking everything from your medicine cabinet to your garage to see whether your items are impacted.
It is not uncommon for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be investigating multistate outbreaks spurred by germs, of for food, household items, and vehicles to have recalls issued against them.
However, you should take recalls seriously, as the reason behind them may cause injury or illness to you.
Here’s a look at some of the recent recalls that could be impacting items in your home:
Blueberries, cheese, nuggets, and patties
Frozen blueberries sold at Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia have been recalled over concerns that they may be contaminated with E. coli. Several people who consumed the blueberries reported experiencing digestive illnesses.
In late June, additional cheese products were recalled by a Maryland-based producer in connection with a deadly listeria outbreak. The Requesón Salvadoreño (Salvadoran Cottage Cheese) and Requesón Mexicano (Mexican Cottage Cheese) were sold in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Some plant-based nuggets and sausage patties were recalled by Morningstar Farms due to concerns about plastic pieces. The impacted Buffalo Chik’n Nuggets and Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties, which you can view here, were sold nationwide.
