$1 billion Powerball jackpot cut to less than $600 million in 31 states by taxes: Data

(NEXSTAR) – The Powerball jackpot has, once again, reached the $1 billion mark after no ticket was able to match the winning numbers drawn earlier this week.

Hours after the drawing Monday night, game officials estimated the jackpot at $975 million, but further review bumped the grand prize up to the rare estimated value of $1 billion with a cash value of $422.3 million.

The current jackpot now ranks as the eighth-largest in Powerball history, just $80 million away from tying for the No. 7 spot:

$1.817 billion: Dec. 24, 2025; Arkansas

$1.787 billion: Sept. 6, 2025; Missouri and Texas
