Over the last five weeks, The Examiner compiled a list of 40 people under 40 who we thought were prominent and newsworthy, having achieved something worth telling our readers about. It was an exercise in positivity to champion people in our region.

The newsroom, which is primarily made up of young journalists, agreed with my view that the list was positive journalism, as it cultivates aspiration and demonstrates that ambitious career pathways and life adventures can be forged right here in Northern Tasmania. The list sought to show people who lived that creed.

Our region holds the prestigious UNESCO City of Gastronomy designation. It boasts successful businesses and world-class tourism assets, including the iconic Cataract Gorge and internationally renowned mountain biking trails such as Blue Derby and St. Helens. But it is our people who make it such a great place to live and work.

The Examiner's 40 Under 40 list showcased a diverse group of high-achieving young people who are impacting various sectors. The political world featured Labor MP Jess Teesdale, who unseated Bridget Archer........
