Schlock And Awe: Kellyanne Conway Drops Dumbest 11-Word Talking Point Ever Heard On Fox News

After watching a clip of Kellyanne Conway testing out a new midterm message, I am certain of two things: that the establishment Republican consultant/politico class is far, far, far dumber than they appear to be, and that with this kind of messaging, the GOP will not only lose the House and the Senate in a devastating tsunami of blue, but they also will have deserved it.

On Wednesday, Conway was yucking it up in a Fox News panel that included Marc Theissen, a Bush-era neocon who has reinvented himself as a Trump sycophant. She appeared to suggest that the Pentagon’s recruitment numbers, which dropped during the Biden administration, were improving because the current administration is just so hellbent on going to war and bombing Iran that they’re too busy to care about all that woke DEI garbage. And then came the mic drop moment. Get ready for it.

“Last administration was about sex change,” she said. “This is about regime change.”

This is not exactly a winning message. Perhaps it might sooth the anxieties of Trump voters growing more anxious by the day that the war is turning out to be somewhat of a fustercluck, and who see the almost Catch-22 absurdity that before the war began, the Strait of Hormuz was open. Now that it has been closed and then partially re-opened by Iran, as a consequence of the war, America needs to either: retake it by force; make major concessions to get Iran to fully reopen it; or just let Iran control it and call the shots from here on in, which would be an embarrassing defeat, to put it mildly. Reminding these voters that their last president was senile while their last vice president was beholden to radical transgender ideologues distracts them from present events.

But for independents, voters the GOP will need in droves if they want to keep the House, Conway’s type of message won’t just fall on deaf ears. No, it might, in fact, have the opposite effect. It might enrage people who think this war has been a complete and total waste of blood and treasure, and that, sure, maybe weirdos in the Biden administration were totally fine with dudes getting their privates snipped off, but at least the Strait was open, and we weren’t on the verge of an energy crisis!

My advice to Republicans would be: start lining up your post-congressional lobbying gig or conservative think tank sinecure, because it’s gonna ugly.
