Is Dundee University too big to fail? I used to think so.

But as the threat of further job cuts looms, I now wonder what future the institution has and indeed whether more redundancies could threaten its very existence.

With the Holyrood election just over a week away, every politician in this area should be shouting from the rooftops about the danger to the institution.

And the SNP as the government of the day need to bang some heads together to ensure the public bailout money is being used wisely and not squandered.

I’ve said here before that the economic and social benefits of the university are simply too great to contemplate the immense damage that would result from cuts which hamper its ability to survive.

Death by a thousand cuts may be slow but it still results in expiry of the body, and with speculation of another £20 million of them........
