Will bus station demolition improve Swindon's town centre?

After the manager of Stagecoach West spoke about how he would be glad to see the town centre bus station demolished and replaced with newer facilities on Fleming Way, Adver readers voiced their views on the matter.

Chris Hanson said that the current bus station does the town a disservice and puts people off from visiting the area, so the £33m regeneration which is due to be completed later this year is much needed and long overdue.

Here’s what you thought of his comments.

Simon Creber said: “All us bus drivers have been thinking this for years, a total dump, best to demolish.”

Lesley Smith said: “As someone who worked in a building next to the bus station a while back, it's not the bus station, it is the people who hang about there all day.

“Drugs, alcohol, indecency, urination, seen from the window everyday.. I hope they can help with this as well.”
