Swindon shoppers sad to see popular Sainsbury's café close

Swindonians were saddened to hear that Sainsbury’s is set to scrap more than 3,000 jobs and plans to close its remaining in-store cafes, patisseries, hot food and pizza counters.

The retailer has decided to close their remaining 61 cafes subject to consultation as part of an overhaul, which will affect the Bridgemead superstore.

Richard Hart said: “Not the first and sadly won't be the last. This is what happens when the government tax employers to the brink.”

Michael Jackson said: “Stupid people trying to blame Labour, it’s not like this money-grabbing company is struggling. Sainsbury's recently reported strong Christmas trading and said it expected annual profits to surpass £1bn.”

Benjamin Stirling said: “The government has not caused this. Sainsbury's have decided to put profit over people. Nothing more, nothing less. Such an embarrassment.”
