Swindon citizens called for staff parking at the hospital to be free after one worker called the payments “outrageous”.

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust charge all staff £1.50 per day to park in staff car parks on the hospital's site.

A trust spokesperson said the money helps to manage, maintain, and improve parking facilities, with some income going towards improvements to clinical services.

When asked whether hospital staff should be able to park at their workplace for free, many Adver readers were in agreement.

Sandy Arnold said: “Of course it should be free for staff.”

Gillian Jones said: “Should be free to staff, a disgrace to ask any NHS staff to pay.”
