Complaints and safety concerns over poor parking in Swindon

Parked cars blocking buses on residential streets have prompted complaints and safety concerns from Adver readers.

Earlier this month, Cllr Daniel Adams called for motorists to stop parking along Eastbury Way in Redhouse as vehicles left on the roundabouts and junctions due to a lack of off-street parking often made it difficult for buses to easily travel along.

On one occasion, a bus got stuck and blocked the North Swindon route for hours.

Kev Barefoot said: “Cars shouldn’t be parked on a roundabout, it’s an absolute nightmare where and how some people park.”

Louise Giddings said: “They do it on every roundabout round there. When my hubby was an Amazon driver around there, a resident came out and told him he couldn’t park outside their house and he had to park on the roundabout.

“To be fair, the majority of the bus drivers do get around this without hitting the cars. So hats off to them having to drive in a very difficult road.”

Csaba Fabian said: “You have to peek out from halfway to see if anyone's coming because people park their cars in the crossings. Very unsafe, especially with kids, and it's only a matter of time before someone gets hit.”

Ames Louise said: “Can’t fit a bus, can’t fit a fire engine - park better, people.”
