I went to The Ivy to tuck into a Downton Abbey experience like no other

As someone who often looks like they got dressed during a power cut, I never expected to step into the shoes of a Downton Abbey character for an evening.

But if you go to The Ivy from now until October 14, you can expect an evening of excellence straight out of the Interwar Period playbook.

Ah, the 1930s. The Great Depression, war brewing on the horizon, and a rise in fascism. Fast forward nearly 100 years, and thankfully, we're...actually...what has changed?

Well, an exclusive offer from The Ivy to coincide with the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is what! I think you'll agree that was sheer plugging perfection.

Saw Downton Abbey: the grand finale today. I thought the film did a great job in honoring the power of the series even if the story in this individual film was a bit contrived at times. The score by John lunn is just as good as the original series.

I'll put my cards on the table. I've never seen Downton Abbey. Crawley and Barrow are just towns in Sussex and Cumbria to me.

The only thing I do know about the show and films is that it's about a bunch of aristocrats living the life of luxury. Well, I'm not going to turn that down, am I?

The closest Ivy to me is in Liverpool, a city that is arguably still the most reflective of that period in the UK, with its beautiful streets, buildings and aura. There is a reason Peaky Blinders is........
