This year marked 50 years since the comedy show Fawlty Towers first appeared on screens.

Starring John Cleese as stern hotel owner Basil Fawlty, the beloved sitcom aired from 1975 to 1979.

Despite only having two seasons of just 12 episodes, it was hugely popular and remains iconic in the history of British television.

Here is where the cast of the show is now.

John had already enjoyed a hugely successful career by the time Fawlty Towers aired, having already starred in the similarly loved sketch series Monty Python.

After Fawlty Towers, the now 86-year-old continued acting, starring in James Bond and Harry Potter, as Q and Nearly Headless Nick.

He also voiced characters in animated films Shrek 2, 3 and 4, and Trolls, as well as narrating in Winnie the Pooh (2011).
