San Francisco tech company once worth $425 million goes bankrupt
Marin Software, headquartered on the fourth floor of 149 New Montgomery St. in San Francisco, filed for bankruptcy on July 1, 2025.
San Francisco-headquartered Marin Software was, in 2013, an on-the-rise advertising tech company that had just landed a $425 million valuation. But on Tuesday, following years of struggle as Google and Meta came to thoroughly dominate the online ad market, the company filed for bankruptcy.
Marin Software’s products help advertisers automate their marketing on different websites and apps and then measure those campaigns’ results. It submitted its Chapter 11 filing to Delaware’s United States Bankruptcy Court. The company announced its plan to dissolve back in April, a day after it laid off 20 workers, or about 30% of its staff.
