Iconic Calif. fast food chain sold for less than the cost of some Bay Area homes
A Southern California fast food brand that predates In-N-Out — and launched just steps away from the Pacific Ocean — has sold to a new parent company for less than the price of many Los Angeles or Bay Area homes. (We’re looking at you, Malibu and Atherton.)
Hot Dog on a Stick, the 80-year-old LA-based chain known for its signature corn dogs, “hand-stomped” lemonade and “hotdoggers” (employees dressed in the chain’s signature red, blue and yellow uniforms), was acquired by Las Vegas-based Amazing Brands for a cool $8 million cash bid. New owner Amazing Brands also operates Siegel’s Bagelmania, Pinkbox Doughnuts and Piero’s Italian Cuisine.
