GARDEN CLIPPINGS: Roses still looking good in November
I don’t have roses in my backyard, but the neighbour’s roses a few doors down look just as good as they did in September.
It’s not over until it’s over.
It’s November, and all plants have gone to bed. By now most leaves have fallen, annual flowers have succumbed to frost and perennials have died back and entered their dormant stage.
Not the roses. I don’t have roses in my backyard, but the neighbour’s roses a few doors down look just as good as they did in September.
Healthy looking leaves, along with blooms that range from unopened buds to nearly faded, show no signs of slowing down. The morning frosts of recent weeks did not faze the roses.
Blame it on the weather. Roses have a habit of flowering heavily in late spring followed by dribbles of flowering through summer and offering up a........
