Walmart $WMT -0.78% has built its reputation around low prices. That reputation can make it easy to assume you are getting a deal simply because you are shopping there. In many cases, you probably are. But low prices are not guaranteed across every aisle, and some products can cost more at Walmart than they do elsewhere.

That can be especially easy to miss when you are already making a big shopping trip. You need groceries, household supplies, maybe a few things you absolutely did not plan to buy. A price that looks reasonable can slip into the cart without much thought.
