Oprah Winfrey has signed a multiyear deal with Amazon $AMZN's Wondery podcast network, bringing her podcast, book club franchises, and the back catalog of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to the platform.

Through the arrangement brokered with Harpo Productions, Wondery is set to control distribution and advertising sales for both the video and audio versions of "The Oprah Podcast" on every available channel. Rights to the "Oprah's Book Club" and "Oprah's Favorite Things" franchises are included, as is access to the full back catalog of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," totaling 25 seasons. No financial details were made public.

Beginning in July, listeners and viewers will be able to access the podcast through Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV Channels, and Audible, while its presence on YouTube and other major podcast platforms will remain intact. What Amazon plans to do with the archived television episodes has yet to be decided.

This summer, the podcast will start releasing two episodes a week instead of one. Winfrey, who is now 72, launched the podcast in December 2024. Each episode usually features well-known guests and everyday people talking in front of a live studio audience.

"Hosting this podcast allows me to continue the work I feel called to do — opening the door for conversations that matter," Winfrey said in a statement. "Expanding our reach globally is an opportunity I embrace, as we continue to connect through stories that invite new ways of seeing and, hopefully, deepen understanding."

Amazon's VP of audio, Twitch, and games Steve Boom pointed to the Harpo partnership as a vehicle for reaching a broader audience, adding that the company would deepen engagement with Winfrey's fans in ways he said were unique to Amazon's platform.

Winfrey's addition fits into a broader push at Wondery to anchor its lineup around well-known personalities and celebrities; the network already counts among its shows "New Heights" with the Kelce brothers, "Armchair Expert" from Dax Shepard, "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer," and LeBron James and JJ Redick's "Mind the Game."

A reorganization of Wondery last August saw the company separate its businesses: narrative programming was folded into Audible, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while a newly created division called Creator Services took charge of the personality- and video-forward podcast slate. The standalone Wondery app and its Wondery+ subscription tier are being phased out, with users expected to shift to Audible going forward.

CAA and Loeb & Loeb negotiated the deal with Amazon on behalf of Harpo Entertainment.
