Financing an American-made car now comes with a tax break. Consumer Reports tested 10 categories to find the top picks built in the U.S

American-made vehicles now come with a real financial incentive. Buyers who finance a car assembled in the United States can deduct up to $10,000 in loan interest from their federal taxes. The offer applies to any new vehicle purchased after Jan. 1, 2025, and is set to phase out after 2028.

Consumer Reports evaluated vehicles across 10 categories using road tests, reliability data, owner satisfaction surveys, and safety assessments to find the best ones built on American soil.

The Civic Hybrid starts at $29,395 and delivers 200 horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain, 50 more than the gas-only Civic. The extra output helps it reach 60 mph in 7.5 seconds — a full two seconds quicker than the base model — while also returning 44 mpg overall versus 33 mpg for the standard version. Consumer Reports testers found the Hybrid exceptional for its refined power delivery and rewarding feel on twisty roads, not just its efficiency figures. The hatchback body style, including the hatchback hybrid, comes from Greensburg, Ind., while sedan Civics are assembled in Ontario.

The Camry starts at $29,100 and is now sold exclusively as a hybrid, with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that returned 48 mpg overall in Consumer Reports tests. Built in Georgetown, Ky., it struck a pleasing equilibrium between smooth ride quality and confident........
