Consumer Reports' 7 favorite bed sheets for 2026

A sheet's thread count says little about how it will actually feel. Consumer Reports tested dozens of sets to find the ones worth buying

Bed sheets are the one household textile you wash repeatedly and sleep against every night. A set that looks good in the store may shrink after a few washes or stop fitting a mattress it initially covered.

Consumer Reports tested queen-size examples on fit, shrinkage, strength, and wrinkling, and singled out the best ones.

Bare Home isn't a household name, but its Poly Satin sheet set turned in one of the standout performances in Consumer Reports' testing. At $48, it's the only synthetic set to earn top marks in fit, shrinkage, and strength testing, and it comes in well below every other pick on this list. CR testers described the feel as comparable to silk, rating softness a five out of five. The wrinkling score is middling, so expect some creasing, and the shiny surface won't appeal to everyone.
