The economy grew just 0.5% in the last quarter of 2025

The revision, down from 0.7%, was driven by a pullback in private inventory investment, as a government shutdown weighed on growth

The U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. That’s down from a prior estimate of 0.7 percent and a sharp slowdown from 4.4 percent growth in the third quarter.

Updated inventory data from the U.S. Census Bureau showed that wholesale trade pulled private inventory investment lower, driving the revision downward. Growth was........
