The AI revolution is being politicized.

The problems that are emerging regarding the AI revolution cut across so many spheres of life for all of us.

Allowing for the politicization of AI could lead to a catastrophic future.

I was stunned by a recent New York Post cover page. The headline was this: Far-Left Group that Silicon Valley Wants to Lead our Tech-Led Future: The Woke Wizards of A.I.

The messaging of that headline is, to my mind, cause for major concern, because it politicizes issues of AI development.

So many issues seem to get politicized (put into either the politically left bucket or the politically right bucket), regardless of whether they inherently relate to political ideology (Motyl, 2018). Our minds lean toward putting information into neat categories (Billig & Tajfel, 1973). The internet amplifies this effect (Motyl, 2018). This all helps to explain why people often associate pickup trucks and cowboy hats with the political right and granola and paper straws with the political left. Our minds naturally tend to categorize things this way.

As I see it, AI is not a partisan issue. It is a human issue.

10 Reasons to Be Concerned About AI

Below are 10 reasons that all humans should be concerned about where the AI boom is taking us.

1. AI is making us dumber.

In the age of AI, cognitive skills are reducing (see Gerlich, 2025). How could it not? AI does the thinking for us. And when we stop exercising our mental muscles, we lose cognitive sharpness (see Cherrier et al., 2021). Not that complicated.

2. AI content can be racist and sexist.

LLM versions of AI have been "trained" on existing content across the documented human experience—a history replete with sexism and racism. Consider the fact that the top AI image related to "evolution" recently showed as a progression of non-human primates morphing into a black man morphing into a white man with blond hair. 3. AI can cultivate fraud.
