You know that feeling when your cell phone's battery is at 15 percent? It's still working, but the indicator is red and you don’t know how much longer you have before it stops.

I'm guessing that you have had times in your life when you felt like you were at 15 percent, too. You were still functioning but your indicator was red and you weren't sure how much longer you had until you were drained.

We can manage this kind of drained state for a while, but we can’t keep it up forever. It is uncomfortable, both because we do not know when our energy will fade completely and because, unlike a phone, when our energy is at 15 percent, it's just harder to carry out everyday functions. We will have to plug in to recharge somehow.
