World No Tobacco Day was Sunday, May 31. It is time for Prince Edward Island to take the next bold step in tobacco control by adopting a smoke-free generation. This would ensure that anyone born after a certain year would never be legally able to purchase tobacco or nicotine products. For decades, governments and health organizations have worked to reduce smoking rates through education, taxation, and restrictions. A smoke-free generation policy would build on that progress by helping ensure today’s youth never become the next generation addicted to nicotine.
