CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to Pittsburgh Penguins for star treatment of young P.E.I. fan
Cheers to the Pittsburgh Penguins and particularly Maritimers Sidney Crosby and Ryan Graves, and athletic trainer Kevin Elliott, who made sure young Myer Gallant got the star treatment during his recent Make-a-Wish trip to the Penguins’ home arena. Cheers as well to Myer’s older brother, Micah, who gave up his spot on the trip so their cousin and Myer’s best friend, Rowan, could attend. That selfless act understandably filled mom Jaclyn Ellis with pride while recounting the story for The Guardian. Ellis said every player and staff member was down to earth, kind and engaged – offering much more than was on the official Make-a-Wish agenda. For Myer, he told The Guardian, “It was awesome. It was better than I even imagined.”
