CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to Maverick Bishop, age 9, and his family after youngster's heart transplant
Cheers to Maverick Bishop and his family who are back home in Stratford, P.E.I., after a 20-month hospital stay and a heart transplant for the nine-year-old. Maverick is still dealing with a weakened system and his mom and dad, Marie-Eve Roy and Woodrow Bishop, are worried about infections he may pick up as he resumes his life and goes back to school at Ecole Francois-Buote. They are also encouraging Islanders to talk to their families about organ donation and commit to becoming donors. Maverick told The Guardian his message for other children who may be facing health issues is: “Keep going. Winners never quit.”
