Think back to the fall of 2024. Then Liberal leader and prime minister Justin Trudeau was past his expiration date, having been in office since 2015. The Liberals appeared destined to spend time in the political wilderness. Not just an election or two — we are talking being so far in the woods there was no sign of human habitation.

The annihilation was expected to be close to what the Progressive Conservatives suffered in 1993 when they went from government to just two members. The party was never able to recover and through a series of mergers and name changes, eventually became the current Conservative Party of Canada.

Compare that to the spring of 2026, when the Liberals now have a majority government that........
