ANDY WALKER: Poll shows strong level of dissatisfaction with P.E.I. government

A regional poll released in late June by Narrative Research could spell some rough sailing for the Rob Lantz government as it charts a course towards the next election.

The survey, released close to the halfway point in the Cornwall-Meadowbank byelection in P.E.I., shows just 16 per cent of Islanders are satisfied with the performance of the current administration. That is the lowest of the four provinces, with Susan Holt in New Brunswick leading the way at 35 per cent, followed by Tony Wakeham in Newfoundland and Labrador at 28 per cent and Nova Scotia’s Tim Houston at 23 per cent.

Over a quarter of Islanders polled (29 per cent) were neutral on the government’s performance while a whopping 55 per cent were dissatisfied. The premier’s only solace in that figure can be that his Nova Scotia counterpart did worse at 59 per cent.
