‘Can’t wait for the big day’: Siblings excited to drop the puck at Next Gen Game

The Next Gen Game with the Peterborough Petes is an annual partnership between the Petes and Five Counties Children’s Centre.

This year’s edition happens on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m., with the Petes facing off against the Kitchener Rangers at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

Proceeds support the Building Abilities for Life Campaign, which helps kids get the treatment and support they need when they need it.

“The Next Gen Game brings together many Five Counties kids, families, staff, volunteers, and supporters for an afternoon of hockey, all in support of kids’ treatment services at the centre reads a media release for the fundraising event.

“What’s unique is that not only will Five Counties kids/clients and families be able to cheer from the stands, some will take part in different aspects of the game behind the scenes, including the opening puck drop,” the release added.

This year, siblings Bryor and Brielle, who are clients at Five Counties, will be joined by their family on the ice to drop the ceremonial puck.
