It has been a big couple of weeks at Pearls and Irritations, featuring some of the biggest issues we have pursued strongly in the past few years: the AUKUS defence deal and the genocide in Palestine, both reaching turning points.

Responding to news that the US administration was “reviewing” AUKUS, former prime minister Paul Keating was unambiguous: “The decision… might very well be the moment Washington saves Australia from itself. Saving us from the most poorly conceived defence procurement program ever adopted by an Australian Government."

And it would be a supreme irony if a malevolent US regime that has plunged its own........
