The noise around the Edmonton Oilers is loud, including their new goal song, which debuted at the home opener and got fans’ ears perked up. When fans noticed the change, they took to social media to share their thoughts.

At first, it sounded like a song that had never been played before, which was true because the next day the Oilers released a video showing behind-the-scenes footage of producing “Striking Oil” by Edmonton band Royal Tusk.

The tune was designed for Oilers fans, and fans had mixed feelings about the new song, from glowing reviews to zero-star ratings.

I love this so much. Terrific local touch. Insanely talented band to create the song. Once people start to get familiar with it, all of Oil Country will be singing along with ya. So rad. – Jess Jackson via X

Fluxland was an amazing goal song, the best I think we had in my 23 years as a fan. But this tops it. It’s small, but having an authentic goal song for your team is cool, and it has that high energy vibe for Rogers Place, Royal Tusk was the right band for the job. This cooks. – Spencer03_09 via X
