The Revd Canon Chris Copsey, founding member and chairwoman of Hope After Suicide Loss, is helping organise a free conference at Norwich Cathedral to challenge stigma and explore how people affected by suicide can be better supported.

Conversations Around Suicide will take place on Tuesday, September 22, with the theme “Support is Prevention: Every Connection Counts”.

For Canon Copsey, the starting point is making it possible for people to talk about a subject that can still be surrounded by secrecy, discomfort and shame.

“Anybody who has been affected, whether as a bereaved family member or friend, or through their work, should be able to have support and a safe space to express feelings and be with others who understand,” she said.

Hope After Suicide Loss was established in 2018 and became a registered charity the following year.

Working across Norfolk and Suffolk, it supports adults bereaved by suicide through group meetings, one-to-one........
