Family's hope for answers into father’s death after bedsores led to double amputation

In a statement issued by JMW Solicitors, the law firm acting for the family, it is claimed Stephen Rowan developed multiple pressure sores in hospital.

These later deteriorated so badly that both of his legs had to be amputated, it added.

Mr Rowan, known as Steve, died in July last year after undergoing the amputation of both lower legs following the rapid deterioration of pressure sores to his heels while he was being treated across two Norfolk hospitals.

Now his former wife Jean Rowan, daughter Natasha and son Matthew Rowan are preparing for an inquest into his death, due to be heard at Norfolk Coroner's Court today (Thursday, April 30).

The hearing is expected to examine the care Mr Rowan, 74, received after he was admitted to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital (N&N) following a fall at home on April 26, 2025.

Mr Rowan had suffered a fractured right hip, but due to a complex medical history was deemed unsuitable for........
