The incident happened between Ipswich and Needham Market and has caused damage to the barriers at Claydon.

Services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street will now be delayed and running at a reduced speed throughout the day.

Network Rail engineers are on their way to the incident and will need to work on the crossing and replace the barriers.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: "Disruption is expected until further notice.

"Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption."
