Bank reopening after extensive refurbishment
HSBC in London Street, which has been completely gutted by building contractors, reopens today.
The site, which shut in October, was vandalised on January 20 and a police cordon was put in place after officers were called out at 1.30am.

But now its refurbishment, part of the banking giant's £55m investment into its 327 branches, is complete.
George Hemstock, the area director for HSBC, said: “Customers will have a much more modern space to utilise for their banking needs, with a focus on improved, customer-friendly features.

"Next month, our Premier customers will also be able to use a brand-new lounge.
"They can benefit from a range of extra perks and enjoy a relaxed, comfortable space to receive support with their banking.
“We continue to invest in community touchpoints across the UK because face-to-face banking remains a valuable channel for customers.
"Customers are also increasingly using online and mobile banking to take control of their finances which is why we are also continuing to invest in digital capabilities.
"Whatever the customer’s preference, we are here for them in Norwich.”

Improvements at the London Street branch include new signage, upgraded Wi-Fi and two expanded seating areas,
In the last five years, UK high streets have lost more than 300 HSBC branches.
The change comes as more people turn to online banking with less need for physical locations.
The firm has pledged to keep all branches open until 2027.
HSBC announced in February it would meet its £1.1bn cost savings target in June, six months earlier than anticipated, after cutting back senior roles.
