People living at Cannell Green were hopeful officers were there to bring an end to the trouble that has been stemming from a flat near them after three police cars arrived at the estate on Wednesday.

But a spokeswoman for the police said officers were in the area hunting for a 21-year-old man who is wanted on recall to prison.

Ethan Hood, who is still on the run, is described as around 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, with black hair and brown eyes.

Hood is from the Norwich area but has no fixed address.

Earlier this year, Norwich City Council, which runs the housing estate near Mousehold Heath, lifted a court order which blocked one of its tenants from entering his flat.

But since the tenant has been back, neighbours have spoken of fights, shouting and threatening behaviour.

They say they are frustrated by the situation, with some questioning why the council allowed him to return.

A spokeswoman for the council said: "We are aware of the issue and the concerns raised by the community, and we are working with the relevant services to find a permanent solution."

Ana Odhe, who lives at the estate, expressed her disappointment and concern the anti-social behaviour will continue after the officers left the property.

She said: "These people come and go, they shout and behave intimidatingly and it's frustrating that it will continue."

Another woman, who also lives at the estate but did not want to be named out of fear for her safety, has previously said: "It's not just the guy who lives there, it's the people he lets in and it's a group of 15 or 20 people. Over time, there's only so much you can take."
