Sparhawk Infant School and Nursery has been awarded £150,000 from the Department for Education to offer 21 additional places from September.

Heidi Jordan, executive headteacher of the school and nursery, in Sparhawk Avenue, Sprowston, said: "We are so thrilled to be able to extend our nursery offer and better meet the needs of our wonderful community, thanks to a £150,000 school based nursery grant.

"We will be remodelling existing spaces in school to offer 21 new nursery places for children from six months to two years of age, in partnership with Stepping Stones Nursery.

"Families are very welcome to view our current, exceptional nursery by appointment and place an expression of interest ahead of our planned September 2026 start date.”

Alice Macdonald, Labour MP for Norwich North, welcomed her government's provision of money for the expansion.

She said: "I am so pleased that Norwich North has felt the benefit of this, with Sparhawk Infant School and Nursery becoming the third school in the constituency to expand, after Mousehold Infant and Nursery and Cecil Gowing Infant and Primary."
