Fears £78k fund to be used for councillors’ own projects or 'whacky green obsessions'
The Green-led cabinet of the authority signed off on the scheme at a meeting last week and will see the funds shared across all councillors.
It is the first time such a fund has been created for the city, with each of its 39 councillors to be given £2,000 to spend on projects.
However, the Labour opposition has raised their concerns and are calling for greater transparency on how money from the new community budget could be spent.

Such projects could including anything from community events, neighbourhood clean-ups and greening projects, community activities or support for grassroots group.
The Green Party’s 21 councillors will receive a total of £42,000 collectively, while Labour’s 12 will receive £24,000 and £6,000 for the three Liberal Democrat councillors.
Reform’s two city councillors will receive £4,000, while Karen Harris, the independent councillor for Town Close, will be given £2,000.
