New Delhi: Early diagnosis of epilepsy can change the life of a person completely, because it helps them get timely treatment, reduce seizures, protect the brain, and avoid years of unnecessary struggle that often comes from late identification, social stigma, or lack of awareness. Epilepsy affects millions of people in India, yet many families still do not recognise early signs, hesitate to seek help, or believe in myths, and this delay can turn a manageable condition into a lifelong challenge. When epilepsy is detected early, almost 70% of patients can become seizure-free with simple and affordable treatment, which shows how powerful early action can be in improving quality of life.
In an interaction with News9Live, Dr. Keni Ravish Rajiv, Senior Consultant – Neurology and Head of Epilepsy Services, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, explained how timely detection can be lifesaving for epilepsy patients.
