Clubs to be at forefront of ISL commercials, regulatory control for AIFF

New Delhi: The All India Football Federation would empower clubs to drive commercial growth of the Indian Super League while retaining control over critical regulatory matters and would revise its governance charter by Tuesday (Jan 20) after concerns were raised over voting and decision-making.

In its initial draft of the charter shared with clubs last Tuesday (Jan 13), all decisions of ISL’s governing council would have been taken by “a simple majority of the Members, with at least two (2) affirmative votes from AIFF Members”.

AIFF also kept one affirmative vote for its member in the management committee in matters that exceeded Rs 1 crore or is for a term of over 3 years, or which relates to a new broadcast partnership or commercial rights partner, or expenses involving a deviation of more than ten per cent (10%) of the approved budget.
