Rescue teams continue to search through collapsed buildings for survivors as emergency operations intensify across affected areas. The quake, centred near San Jose del Palmar in the Choco region, caused damage across more than 20 municipalities, including Pereira, Cali, Quibdo and Manizales. Authorities have warned of possible aftershocks and declared an emergency to speed up relief efforts. Colombia’s Geological Service described it as the strongest earthquake recorded in the country in the past decade. Several airports were also affected, with flights suspended.
