BJP MLA calls Sita Mata ‘maut ka saman’, says only men died in Ramayan, Mahabharat

BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya sparked controversy at a Balram Mahotsav event in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna after referring to Mata Sita as “maut ka saman” while discussing women’s role in wars from Indian epics. Chanchoura MLA Priyanka Penchi interrupted him, saying women had also made sacrifices and his claim was incorrect.

Guna: A remark by BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya about Mata Sita triggered an unusual exchange at a state-level Balram Mahotsav event in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday.

While speaking about women and wars mentioned in Indian epics, Shakya referred to Mata Sita as “Maut Ka Saman” and argued that men, rather than women, had suffered most of the deaths in major wars.
