New Delhi: The issue of prostate cancer is fast turning into a major health threat for Indian men. The rise in the number of cases may be attributed to an ageing population, longer life expectancy, greater awareness about the disease, and the increasing use of testing. Changing lifestyles, obesity and metabolic health disorders may also contribute to the increase in the incidence of prostate cancer. More men are undergoing health checks and PSA tests, resulting in an increasing number of prostate cancer cases being diagnosed. Yet, India still has a different disease profile compared with the West, and awareness of the condition remains low among the Indian population.
