New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh has added another landmark to his growing global career, becoming the first Punjabi singer to headline London’s Wembley Stadium.

As Bhangra beats filled the stadium, fans erupted into cheers as the Indian singer launched into hits including G.O.A.T. and Lover. Speaking to the BBC backstage before the concert, Dosanjh described performing at Wembley as “a dream”.

“This moment will go down in the history books,” he told the audience.

Dosanjh’s Wembley appearance drew a large South Asian presence, although the crowd also included fans from other backgrounds. Supporters began arriving hours before the concert, with some comparing the singer’s stature to international icons.

“MJ [Michael Jackson] and Madonna, he’s that level for us,” one fan said to the publication. Another praised him as “so good looking, and so down to earth”.
